Almost every visitor arrives by car and walks the last stretch. The car park sits on Fyrvejen right by the coast, and from there a waymarked path crosses the dune towards the tower. The surface is gravel and loose sand, not a paved town path.

Where is the car park?

The main car park is at Fyrvejen 110, 9800 Løkken, a few kilometres west of Løkken and north-west of Lønstrup. Enter the address rather than just the name of the lighthouse into your navigation, otherwise you may be routed onto narrow coastal lanes with nowhere to turn. The entrance and the start of the dune path are around 57.4479, 9.7790.

Does parking cost anything?

The car park is run as a public nature car park and is normally free, and visiting Rubjerg Knude itself is free. Rules and any charges can change, so treat the signage on site as the final reference rather than any website — including this one.

Walking distance to the lighthouse

It is roughly 1.2–1.5 km each way from the car park to the tower, and most people take 20–25 minutes. The path runs over gravel and then loose sand up across the dune, and into the wind it feels considerably longer than the map suggests. Budget around 40–50 minutes in total for the return walk.

When is there space?

In high summer and on clear midsummer days around noon the car park can fill up. Arrive early in the morning or late in the afternoon if you want to avoid a wasted drive. Sunset is popular, which is exactly why the hours before it are the busiest. In winter there is almost always space, but daylight is short.

Electric cars, supplies and toilets

There is no charging point or fuel station at the dune car park. Public chargers in Løkken include Jyllandsgade 11–15 and Industrivej 6, roughly 10–15 minutes’ drive away. Public toilets are normally located near the main entrance, but opening and cleaning vary with the season.
