At low tide
The beach is at its widest and the sand flats are exposed, good for a shore walk and for seeing the cliff base. The walk from the car park to the lighthouse crosses the higher dunes, so it is not affected by the tide.
At high tide
The sea pushes further up the beach and can break right at the base of the eroding cliffs. Keep your distance from the cliff face and never shelter beneath it.
Best timing
A falling or low tide often brings the calmest, widest shore and the clearest light on the sand. Pair it with a wind and rain check from the weather panel above.
